Monitoring Setup
I use a Yamaha EAD10 for a consistent in-ear sound no matter where I am. I use it in my studio, at clinics, festivals, and my drum camps. My in-ears (Sound & Communication custom molded SC4’s) are plugged directly into it. If I’m not using the EAD10 and instead plugging the in-ears directly into my audio interface, I’m using a Fischer Amps Mini Bodypack.
If I’m playing to any tracks, I run those in Cubase on my laptop which connects to a Focusrite Scarlett 6i6 audio interface. The Focusrite sends the music and click into the EAD10 via AUX cable and a 1/4” adapter, and can send the music without click out to a PA system or sound engineer via the main L and R outputs.
I also use a AKAI LPD8 MIDI-pad with my laptop, mapped to my Cubase project, to easily be able to switch between songs and adjust click/song volumes without fiddling on my laptop touchpad.
Finally, I use a Porter & Davies BC Gigster Throne, with a Gibraltar B9608 Throne Base. The P&D throne allows me to feel the vibrations of my drums via the throne, which really connects me to the kit and especially to the bass drum.
I set up a “headphone mix” for the throne using Focusrite Control, a software that comes with my audio interface, and then use a headphone jack on the audio interface and a 1/4” cable to send a full mix of my drums into the BC Gigster.

I mostly use these on my toms, to focus the sound a bit more around the fundamental pitch.
Snareweight Dampeners
I use these to control the overtones on my snare and to dry it up a bit.
